How to Convert Word to PDF
There are several ways to convert a Word document (.docx) to PDF. Using this tool: upload your .docx file above, preview the content, click "Save as PDF", and in the print dialog select "Save as PDF" as the destination. In Microsoft Word: File → Save As → choose PDF from the format dropdown. In Google Docs: File → Download → PDF Document. On Mac: Open the Word file in Preview → File → Export as PDF.
Why Convert Word to PDF?
PDF is the preferred format for sharing documents because it preserves formatting exactly regardless of which device, operating system, or software the recipient uses. Word documents can look different on different computers depending on installed fonts and software versions. PDFs are also harder to edit accidentally, making them better for resumes, contracts, reports, and any document you want to share in a fixed, professional format.
What Formatting Is Preserved?
This browser-based tool preserves: headings (H1/H2/H3), paragraphs, bold and italic text, bullet lists and numbered lists, tables (basic), and line spacing. Complex elements that may not transfer perfectly include: custom fonts (replaced with browser defaults), tracked changes, comments, form fields, embedded charts, and advanced table styles. For documents with complex formatting, using Microsoft Word's built-in Save as PDF feature will give better results.
Privacy — Your Document Stays in Your Browser
Your .docx file is processed entirely in your browser using mammoth.js, an open-source Word document parser. The file content is never sent to any server. This makes it safe for confidential documents — contracts, personal letters, medical documents — that you wouldn't want to upload to a third-party service.
