Format Reference
LDAP / Windows FileTime — 100-nanosecond intervals since January 1, 1601 (UTC). Used in Active Directory, Windows Registry, NTFS. A typical value looks like 133000000000000000. Divide by 10,000,000 to get seconds since 1601-01-01; subtract the difference from Unix epoch (11,644,473,600 seconds) to get Unix time.
.NET DateTime Ticks — 100-nanosecond intervals since January 1, 0001 (year 1, AD). The .NET DateTime.Ticks property. Typical value: 638000000000000000. Different from LDAP ticks because the epoch is year 1, not 1601.
NTP Timestamp — seconds since January 1, 1900 (UTC). Used in Network Time Protocol. A 64-bit NTP timestamp has 32 bits for seconds and 32 bits for fractions. Subtract 2,208,988,800 to convert to Unix time.
WebKit / Chrome — microseconds since January 1, 1601 (UTC). Used internally in Chromium, WebKit, and derived browsers. Divide by 1,000,000 to get seconds since 1601, then convert to Unix time.
Cocoa / Apple — seconds since January 1, 2001 (UTC). Used by Apple platforms: macOS, iOS, Swift. Date().timeIntervalSinceReferenceDate in Swift. Add 978,307,200 to get Unix time.
SAS — seconds since January 1, 1960 (UTC). Used in SAS statistical software. Subtract 315,619,200 from Unix time to get SAS time.
Excel OADate — days (with fractional day for time) since December 30, 1899. Excel's internal date serial number. Day 1 = January 1, 1900. Multiply the fractional part by 86,400 to get seconds within the day.
Unix Hex — Unix timestamp in hexadecimal. Common in log files, network packet captures, and low-level debugging.
lastLogon, pwdLastSet, and accountExpires as LDAP timestamps — 100-nanosecond intervals since Jan 1, 1601. In PowerShell: [datetime]::FromFileTime(133000000000000000). Paste the value above with LDAP selected to convert instantly.DateTime.Ticks is the number of 100-nanosecond intervals since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 0001. It is NOT the same as LDAP ticks which start from 1601. In C#: new DateTime(ticks) to convert back. To get Unix time from ticks: (ticks - 621355968000000000L) / 10000000L.=(A1/86400)+25569. Format the cell as Date/Time. The 25569 is the number of days between Excel's epoch (Dec 30, 1899) and Unix's epoch (Jan 1, 1970).
